Visiting Dr. Solomon

We recently had Skyla's 6-month check-up and of course had to take lots of photos to mark the occasion.  First, a few of the proud parents with the most beautiful girl in the world:

A word about these photos: we wanted to show the doc how well she can sit up, and they require you to undress your baby down to a clean diaper.  She looks so cute with her little belly poofing out that it makes me wonder why we don't always take pictures of her like this!

Out and About

This post is basically a compilation of all the things we've been doing over the past month. We've been so busy that I haven't had a chance to update this blog in a while, and if you look below you'll understand why!  Starting with her first time in the jogging stroller, given to us by Kyle and Colleen.  I waited until she was 6 months old and we had gotten the ok from the doc, but she is obviously still too little for it.  We just went for a little stroll through the neighborhood to the library to break it in.

My new good mommy friend invited us to the Botanical Gardens (part of Golden Gate Park) and of course we said yes!  I had never been there before and it was beautiful.  We mostly just hung out near the duck pond and took in the gorgeous day.



 That weekend we went to San Jose to visit la famiglia.  She played with Grandma and I tried to get the perfect shot of the action.  I think number 2 does the job :)

We finally made it out to Mommy and Me rhyme and play time at the library. It was so much fun!  We sang silly songs and then the librarian brought out a ton of toys for the kiddos to play with.  The only hurdle was getting there; we had to take the MUNI and although this was officially Skyla's second trip on the bus, this was the first time I attempted to do it without the Baby Bjorn.  I had to lift up her gargantuan stroller and carseat by myself but I managed to do it without any major trauma (to her or me.)  Here she is chillin, like she does this all the time:

One of our New Year's Resolutions was to go to the local farmers' market more.  We used to go all the time when we lived in Bernal Heights because we could walk, but now that we have to drive it's a bit of a hike.  We got the whole gang together and got a bunch of good stuff.  Again, we couldn't find the damn Baby Bjorn so we maneuvered her around in the stroller.  Tory did all the shopping and I took all the photos like a big dork.

We had such a great time at the farmers' market that we did a family trip to the park the next day.  We didn't realize that Sunday evening would be so crowded but we quickly figured out why; that's one of the only times the parents can actually take the kids to the park, so everyone was there! We tried smiling at a few people and saying nice things about their kids but this Noe Valley parents clique is impossible to break into!  I don't know the secret password but it's cool -- we have each other, and we had a great time!

We finally got a chance to take Skyla to visit Emmett at his house.  I wish I had gotten a picture of them playing together because it was so cute.  He kept reaching for her and trying to grab her face, and we kept telling him to play it cool!  You gotta be the stranger in the corner with mistique, not the over-anxious guy that comes on too strong.  All that flirting must have tired him out because he fell asleep right in his Auntie Casey's arms.  I think in the last one he's dreaming of Skyla and saying, "Even when I'm asleep I'm still thinking about you!" Too cute!

And last, but certainly not least, I've included our Mommy and Me music class/concert at a cute little local baby store.  During the class this woman sang songs and the babies got to play with bells and scarves.  My little babe was mesmerized.  One of the most memorable songs was, "Everybody's got a butt."  It was stuck in my head all day! 

These past few weeks have been full of good times and good memories. Lots more to come!
